Just noticed an interesting way the oppression and missing/replaced desires interact.
If you aren't following your own desires but someone else's your brain will be aware on some level and will have good reasons except for the ones mentioned here to oppress them. From that level replacing the desires with inauthentic ones is another action to avoid the pain and scaryness and avoiding acting on the desires is another action to avoid seeing that they aren't the right ones.
